Pakistan successfully test-fired surface-to-surface ballistic missile Shaheen-II. According to ISPR the missile is capable of hitting targets as far as 1,500 kilometres away with capability of carrying both conventional and nuclear warheads.

The Pakistan Army said in a statement that the launch was aimed at ensuring operational readiness of the Army Strategic Forces Command.

The missile was launched in the Arabian Sea. The director general of the Strategic Plans Division, commander of the Army Strategic Forces Command, NESCOM chairperson, senior officers from the Army Strategic Forces Command, scientists and engineers were present at the launch.

The military’s media wing added that the “Shaheen-II is a highly capable missile that meets Pakistan’s strategic needs towards the maintenance of desired deterrence stability in the region”.
